About

III Liceum OgólnoksztaÅ‚cÄ…ce im.Adama Mickiewicza in Tarnów was founded in 1849 and is one of the most prestigious schools in the region. It is a comprehensive secondary public school with 1033 students and 78 teachers at present. Our students receive quality education and acquire high results in school final exams that allow them to be accepted at top universities. These successful achievements are the result of our teaching approach which aims at treating each student individually. Recognizing the needs of each student and educating them according to their learning abilities is the added value we want to share with other partner schools. The services offered by the school are based on quality and performance, promoting European values and equal opportunities for all students.

ACTIVITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Our school encourages students to participate in various projects and our staff is well-experienced in holding student exchanges. In the years 2003- 2005, we conducted projects with Spain and Great Britain within the “ Youth in Action” programme. The main aims of these were discovering national identities, fighting stereotypes and building tolerance and responsible attitude in young people. In 2010 a project with Ireland was to teach students how to prevent global issues such as homelessness, and refugee and immigrant crises. For sixteen years we have been carrying out projects on various topics with a German school. Within Socrates- Comenius programme our school was involved in four projects from 2006 to 2014, with many European countries. The projects’ subjects included building cultural awareness, fighting stereotypes and prejudices and the issue of environmental pollution. We have an ongoing Erasmus + KA220-SCH project on climate change entitled: Before it is too late”, which was granted in Romania Tarnów, located in the south of Poland, has a high unemployment rate and is one of the poorest regions in Poland. Most of our students come from villages with a low socioeconomic status so they have limited access to centres of culture and science. By engaging students in Erasmus + programme we want to increase their opportunities to visit other countries and develop their key competencies. Due to this, the students will have the chance to broaden their horizons and feel like citizens of a united Europe. The key persons involved in this project are Aneta SzupiÅ„ska, Agata Kowal and Agnieszka Filipczuk. They are English teachers- dedicated and hard-working, with a high sense of initiative. The wide experience that we have gained in the projects carried out so far, is something we are willing to share with our new partners and also learn from their experience in Erasmus + projects. They all have logistic, administrative and organizational skills. In case of these people leave their position in the future, the school headmaster will take over the responsibility in place of their roles.
