Kaunas Santara Gymnasium
About
Kaunas 'Santara' Gymnasium is a public, non-profit organization. It is located in one of the newest parts of the city. Our gymnasium has 370 students ( 14-19 years of age ) and 35 teachers. Most of our students live locally while others travel up to 15-20 km to reach the school. Students choose their subjects in three main orientations: IT, Economy, and Science. The school curriculum is highly academic as the majority of students go on to higher education at university. There are some students with special needs, they are taught alongside other pupils. For most students, school is the only place in which they can participate in social and cultural life. Most of the students have never been abroad, so participation in the project would be a great opportunity for them to know their peers in other countries, their lifestyles, culture, and traditions. Cooperation in the implementation of tasks would improve communication skills in English, it would be also motivation for further learning. The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities in various subjects, such as Debate, Tolerance, and Young Leaders’ clubs where the students are educated to become active European citizens and cherish European values.
